Could it be that nails are low?
Even before we proceed much further, might it be that the nailer is not having enough nails…
That is where the re-load indicator(on the mag) comes in…see if it is alerting you that nails are too few, because if they are, then there will be jamming.
Check if you’re loading nails correctly
Are nails properly loaded?
Check the manual for the exact way you should load the nailer….
This is what the manual says under the section “how to load Metabo HPT nail gun” for preliminary tips:
Put your nails(with the head, of course) on top rail(not the bottom of rail, as the manual indicates!) and closest to the nailer’s striker –and be sure to move the nails as far, as it is possible, to the right too.
It sounds simplistic but that could be the exact cause of your brad nailer not firing issue..(use recommended 18 gauge nails as well)
Check connection to compressor
Next, when it comes to the problem of Metabo HPT brad nailer not firing, you should turn to the compressor.
What you want to do here is double check that your nailer is, to begin with, connected to the air compressor in the right way….the connection needs to be tight.
Secondly, it is important to be sure that the connected air com is also supplying enough air pressure (this should be between 70-120psi – recommended for this particular Metabo HPT nail gun).
In a nutshell, you want to be certain that the compressor isn’t the problem (obviously it won’t do its job if the pressure is not right).
Check depth adjustment dial
If you are still having problems, go ahead and take a look at the tool’s depth adjustment dial…for the gun to fire (nails to leave the gun), check that the dial has not been set too low.
That is because nails won’t leave the gun if the depth adjustment dial is set this way….
So check again- and the manual could be helpful here once more.

If you have not been successful so far, perhaps you may consider repairing or swapping these parts:
The magnet (found on top of probe)
Many times the magnet- if it has issues- leads to the nailer not shooting.
You want to try to repair or replace it….check YouTube for some good video tutorials on how to do that.
The trigger switch
The next potential culprit is trigger switch
Could be it has failed..or it is not just working as it should be…it is repairable (on occasion) though getting a replacement could be the way to go, depending on how bad the part is worn out
The pickup sensor
This is on the top too…..if the sensor is not functional, then I cannot see how your gun will shoot (it won’t be sensing nails).
So check and see if having it changed (if you cannot do it yourself) will fix your gun.
